53rd Annual Grammy Awards Red Carpet Report

And so, the surprises and glitzy performances of the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards aside, we take a look at the dresses and creations the various singers and celebrities wore on the red carpet. Some dazzled, others looked frazzled and some were simply walking disasters, we take a look at some of the best and some of the worst dressed at the Red Carpet.

Miley Cyrus looked trendy and stylish with big bangles, a sequined Roberto Cavalli dress and a mane of honey-blonde hair. Jennifer Lopez was at her gorgeous best in a Pucci dress and Christian Louboutin heels. In a daring Jean Paul Gaultier gown, Rihanna was looking sexy and stylish while Selma Blair was elegant in a minimalistic maternity dress.

Jennifer Hudson looked elegantly fashionable in a Versace frock while Nicole Kidman in her floral strapless Jean Paul Gaultier mermaid gown was perhaps the best dressed lady of the night. Heidi Klum set an example to others on how to dress well in a luxurious Julien MacDonald creation while Julienne Hough in a colorful Catherine Malandrino maxi dress and a loose coiffure was elegance itself.

Justin Bieber in a rather ill fitting baggy looking cream-colored Gucci suit and a pair of sneakers was not very impressive. Lady Gaga on the other hand an impressive entrance and that was the best to be had from the Grammy award winning singer.

Haylee Williams was, in the opinion of most critics, simply the worst dressed of the lot in a Jeremy Scott frock and red hair, at best she reminded us of Lola Luftnagle from Hannah Montana but we certainly hope she changes her stylist or hires one if she does not already have one as soon as possible.

Surprise Wins And Over The Top Performances at the Grammys

The Grammy Awards are the most prestigious awards in the music industry and in that respect are rather akin to the Academy Awards or the Oscars for movies or the Emmy Awards for television. Coming in to the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, artists like Eminem, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber were widely expected to win in most categories.

At the end of the day however, Eminem who was nominated in ten categories but only won two awards (Best Rap Album and Best Rap Solo Performance) while Lady Gaga who had six nominations came away with three awards.

Surprisingly, the country trio Lady Antebellum took home five awards as they won in the top Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Country Album, Best Country Song and Best Country Performance by a duo or a group.

Other big surprises were wins for Arcade Fire in the album of the year category for their album The Suburbs and Esperanza Spalding won in the Best New Artist category beating off competition from the likes of Justin Bieber, Drake and Florence + The Machine.

The performances on the other hand were largely over the top with Lady Gaga being "born" from an egg to perform her new single and a glitzy tribute to Aretha Franklin who's currently suffering from an undisclosed ailment. Mick Jagger and Barbra Streisand also had performances while Cee-Lo performed a child safe version of his song "F--- You" backed by The Muppets.

There were also performances by Rihanna, Katy Perry, Arcade Fire, Bruno Mars, Usher, Miranda Lambert, Norah Jones and John Mayer among others.
